A Christmas surprise for three Depots and their customers!

Christmas came a little early this year for some Depots and their customers!

Three Depots in the province received recognition this week through the Applaud a Depot program. A lucky customer at each Depot received an early Christmas gift for taking the time to leave great feedback at applaudadepot.ca, and enjoyed lunch and a brief celebration with the Depot staff at each location. The latest Applaud a Depot draw resulted in wins for customers from Okotoks Bottle Depot, Olds Bottle Depot, and Callingwood Bottle Depot in Edmonton.

Okotoks

Owners and staff from the Okotoks Bottle Depot celebrated with Councillor Ed Sands, representing the Town of Okotoks, along with a couple of their long-standing customers who have been keeping the highways of southern Alberta free of beverage containers for many years. Their winning customer, Lyle, said “They seem happy and thankful that I choose to bring my empties to them.” During lunch, Lyle expressed how his view of Depots has taken a very positive turn as he has experienced great service at a variety of Depots, and has found Okotoks Bottle Depot to meet his needs on all levels. This type of exceptional customer service is exactly what the Applaud a Depot program was created to recognize and celebrate!

Olds Depot2

Olds Bottle Depot was able to celebrate their contributions to the Cans for Kids program on the same day, as customers at the Depot have donated over $15,000 since Cans for Kids was launched in 2009. This Depot also supports other local initiatives and has provided services to help raise well over $30,000 in 2016 alone to groups like youth organizations, the food bank, the Fort McMurray Disaster Relief fund, and many more. Mayor Judy Dahl and members of Board for Accredited Supports to the Community (under which the Depot is operated) joined in on the celebration. Their customer, Janine, said “I love the staff and all their happy attitudes! Outstanding service and they always take the time to chat with me!”

Callingwood

Callingwood Bottle Depot has also been a major supporter of Cans for Kids, raising over $24,000 since inception, and over $3,000 just in 2016. Leslie, representing Ronald McDonald House Northern Alberta, which is one of the organizations benefiting from Cans for Kids, came out to celebrate this achievement with the staff. This Depot has also received over 100 individual Applauds from happy customers, just like their winning customer, Andrea. “I was very pleasantly surprised,” she said about the service she received. “The staff I dealt with were extremely friendly and we had a great chat.” Andrea also noted that it had been her very first visit to this particular Depot, and she was prompted to submit an Applaud after such a positive experience.

We love hearing about outstanding service and how Depots go above and beyond every day across the province. You can find Olds, Okotoks, and Callingwood, or you can search for your local Depot using our Find a Depot tool. To learn more about Applaud a Depot and to submit an Applaud of your own, visit the Applaud page.
