The Great Prairie Bottle Harvest – that’s a wrap!

The biggest bottle drive in Alberta has officially closed and was a great success!

Over 90 registrants participated across the province of Alberta on one of three consecutive Saturdays in October, coming together as a community to raise funds for a broad range of vital causes that we’ll be highlighting in our upcoming #ChangeThatCounts blog series.

Registrants received a suite of digital promotional materials to use on their cause dedicated websites, social media and newsletters with graphics and content to showcase their mission, drive details, and desire to recruit volunteers. Further building awareness for their upcoming drive, beverage container types suitable for refund, and drive day donation instructions in the form of Alberta Depot supplied door hangers were provided to be distributed to households within their chosen communities.

On the morning of each Harvest drive day, neighbors left out their empty beverage containers, bagged, tagged and ready for pickup on their front steps. Bottle harvesters banded together, collecting beverage containers and raising funds for great causes and organizations such as local scouting troupes, community gardens, cadets, gymnastic clubs, and more. Organizers partnered with their local Alberta Depot to ensure a convenient and accurate refund of all beverage containers returned on behalf of their cause.

A bottle drive is an easy way to raise funds any time of year. The beauty of events like The Great Prairie Bottle Harvest or a drive that you organize on your own is the opportunity to raise tax-free funds whenever, wherever and for whatever matters to you most.
